Of course we have all heard this. Actually this term came about after a famous trial in Missouri. It was the story of Old Drum. My great-many greats Uncle -George Graham Vest gave a famous speech at a trial that has become the famous Eulogy to the Dog. This became my reason for starting BowWowzers years ago. You may or may not remember me from the Farmers Markets. Every Saturday at the Columbus Market there was a special visitor. His name was Luke. Luke was a magnificent gentleman. He was a dog but I don't think he knew that. He was kind and clear eyed and so aware of his surroundings. Luke patiently waited for his biscuit and showed his approval just by his look and a wag of the tail. Appreciative and off to greet the other vendors and people at the Market. As times change, BowWowzers went by the wayside. Earlier this spring Luke's family gave me the devastating word that Luke had died. Way too soon and what a loss to John and Jo and everyone that loved Luke; because oh my Luke was a lover. So Luke is still the spokes image for BowWowzers. The biscuits will be at the Mill Springs Farm Store and Parker-Binns Winery. Also Erica Shanks has a treat bowl set up at the Farmers Markets that allow dogs again. Next to the bowl is a donation jar to benefit GRO which is an Agricultural non-profit. When I was baking today my heart was with John and Jo because Luke was a forever dog; one of a kind. And as I scolded myself for putting this off so long, I knew Luke would understand.
