It has been a long time coming...I came to this area 7 years ago. I was awe-struck by the Mountains, the clear running rivers and streams, the lush greenery, the magical skies at night and the beautiful sunrises. Coming from a big city the quiet engulfs you instantly. Being a food-centric person I saw the wineries and the farmers markets and local food and thought this was Napa Valley. Not so fast. There was a lack of education to healthy food for all; there was politics, and a lack of cohesion in our food community. Through the efforts of many hard working dedicated people things have changed drastically. People are understanding the importance of being able to see where your food is coming from. Many young families have thrown themselves into farming with passion and respect for the land and food. The older farmers are embracing new techniques and mentoring the new. Community Gardens are providing food and purpose for many, connecting the young and old also. People are starting to understand that supporting local benefits everyone. Farmers Markets, Farm Stores. Locally Grown. Local Artisan Food Products.Passion and economy. Young and old. Getting healthy. Feeding your soul. We are lucky indeed.
