Thanksgiving Soup Stock

November 30, 2014

Are you wondering what to do with those turkey bones when you have gotten all the meat off of it?

Make your own stock - much better than store bought.

Place bones in large stock pot ( if it comes with a basket, even better to place bones in basket)
fill with water.  Add trimmings from carrots, celery, onions, (any vegetables) to pot and bring to a boil.  After rolling boil reduce heat to a simmer - cook 1 to 1/2 hours.  Allow to cool, remove bones and vegetables.  Continue cooling overnight, skim away any fat that has risen to top.  Portion in zip lock bags and freeze.
Use in soups or any recipe that calls for chicken stock.
